Daily Windows for the week of April 2-8

SUNDAY

What would help you find rest and value in the LORD?

Morning and Midday
God is always fair. He will remember how you helped his people in the past and how you are still helping them. You belong to God, and he won’t forget the love you have shown his people.  [Hebrews 6:10, CEV]

Evening
A believer longs after God: to come into His presence, to feel His love, to feel near to Him in secret, to feel in the crowd that he is nearer than all the creatures. Ah! Dear brethren, have you ever tasted this blessedness? There is greater rest and solace to be found in the presence of God for one hour, than in an eternity of the presence of man.  [Robert Murray McCheyne]

MONDAY

What do you want to surrender today – and what do you want to ask for in exchange?

Morning and Midday
The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.  [Proverbs 15:29, NIV]

Evening
All change comes from deepening your understanding of the salvation of Christ and living out the changes that understanding creates in your heart.  [Timothy J. Keller]

TUESDAY

What would help you be more aware of God’s presence today?

Morning and Midday
I love you, lord; you are my strength.
The lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.  [Psalm 18:1-2, NLT]

Evening
It is easy to use the phrase ’God’s will for my life’ as an excuse for inaction or even disobedience. … My hope is that instead of searching for ’God’s will for my life’ each of us would learn to seek hard after ‘the Spirit’s leading in my life today.’ May we learn to pray for an open and willing heart, to surrender to the Spirit’s leading with that friend, child, spouse, circumstance, or decision in our lives right now.  [Francis Chan]

WEDNESDAY

What reminds you of all the reasons you have to be grateful?

Morning and Midday
“Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”  [John 16:31-33, NIV]

Evening
Faith, after all, is not simple agreement or the acknowledgement of certain propositions of hypothesis. Faith is the placing of your whole life within God, the only One who is faithful enough to hold your life, redeem it, and save it.  [Glenn Packiam]

THURSDAY

What is the next step of commitment and action for you to join what God is doing in the world?

Morning and Midday
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.  [Romans 10:17, ESV]

Evening
The point of the resurrection…is that the present bodily life is not valueless just because it will die…What you do with your body in the present matters because God has a great future in store for it…What you do in the present—by painting, preaching, singing, sewing, praying, teaching, building hospitals, digging wells, campaigning for justice, writing poems, caring for the needy, loving your neighbor as yourself—will last into God’s future. These activities are not simply ways of making the present life a little less beastly, a little more bearable, until the day when we leave it behind altogether (as the hymn so mistakenly puts it…). They are part of what we may call building for God’s kingdom.  [N.T. Wright]

FRIDAY

What nagging and persistent habits or patterns do you need to confess?

Morning and Midday
This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.  [1 John 1:5-7, NLT]

Evening
If you don’t feel strong desires for the manifestation of the glory of God, it is not because you have drunk deeply and are satisfied. It is because you have nibbled so long at the table of the world. Your soul is stuffed with small things, and there is no room for the great.  [John Piper]

SATURDAY

What areas of need are difficult for you to admit?

Morning and Midday
But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.  [Psalm 59:16, NIV]

Evening
Suffering, failure, loneliness, sorrow, discouragement, and death will be part of your journey, but the Kingdom of God will conquer all these horrors. No evil can resist grace forever.  [Brennan Manning]
