What would help you find rest and value in the LORD?

Morning and Midday
Now the Lord is the Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there the heart is free.  [2 Corinthians 3:17, Bible in Basic English]

If there be anything that is capable of setting the soul in a large place it is absolute abandonment to God. It diffuses in the soul a peace that flows like a river and the righteousness which is as the waves of the sea.  [Francois Fenelon]

What do you want to surrender today – and what do you want to ask for in exchange?

Morning and Midday
A person’s anxiety will weigh him down, but an encouraging word makes him joyful. [Proverbs 12:25, God’s Word Translation]

Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength. [Corrie ten Boom]

What would help you be more aware of God’s presence today?

Morning and Midday
Hear my prayer, Lord; listen to my cry for mercy. When I am in distress, I call to you, because you answer me. Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours. All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name. For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead. [Psalm 86:6-13 NIV]

We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties. [Oswald Chambers]

What reminds you of all the reasons you have to be grateful?

Morning and Midday
For the LORD is good, and his mercy endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. [Psalm 100:5]

O God my creator and redeemer, I may not go forth today except You accompany me with your blessing. Let not the vigor and freshness of the morning, or the glow of good health, or the present prosperity of my undertakings, deceive me into a false reliance upon my own strength. All the good gifts have come to me from you. They were yours to give and they are yours also to curtail. They are not mine to keep; I do but hold them in trust; and only in continued dependence upon you, the giver, can they be worthily enjoyed. [John Baillie]

What is the next step of commitment and action for you to join what God is doing in the world?

Morning and Midday
“Break new ground. Plant righteousness, and harvest the fruit that your loyalty will produce for me.” It’s time to seek the Lord! When he comes, he will rain righteousness on you. [Hosea 10:12 God’s Word Translation]

So many Christians are frozen in spiritual immaturity. They are easily offended, often distracted and without prayer or spiritual discipline. We think God is requiring of us simply to hang on, yet the Lord is looking for mature Christlikeness to emerge within us. He feeds us with His Spirit and Word that we might have every resource we need to obtain His very life and character. He baptized us in fire that He might create proven character within us. He is relentless with His goal, expecting we should also. [Francis Frangipane]

What nagging and persistent habits or patterns do you need to confess?

Morning and Midday
Once again you will have compassion on us.

You will trample our sins under your feet

and throw them into the depths of the ocean! You will show us your faithfulness and unfailing love

as you promised to our ancestors Abraham and Jacob long ago. [Micah 7:19, 20 New Living Translation]

However many and however great and burdensome your sins may be, with God there is greater mercy. Just as His majesty is, so likewise is his mercy. [St. Tikhon of Moscow]

What areas of need are difficult for you to admit?

Morning and Midday
I will bless my people and their homes around my holy hill. And in the proper season I will send the showers they need. There will be showers of blessing. [Ezekiel 34:26 New Living Translation]

We must not think that [God] takes no notice of us, when He does not answer our wishes: for He has a right to distinguish what we actually need. [John Calvin]
