Daily Windows for the week of July 23-29

SUNDAY

What would help you find rest and value in the LORD?

Morning and Midday
Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. [Philippians 4:7, The Message]

Evening
Love is God’s preservative. It surrounds our souls with a power greater than the power of the devil and the world around us. It keeps us balanced; it insulates us against the hostility that exists in our world. Love is the shelter of the Most High; it is the substance of the Place of Immunity.  [Francis Frangipane]

MONDAY

What do you want to surrender today – and what do you want to ask for in exchange?

Morning and Midday
For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish. [Jeremiah 31:25]

Evening
A person has to get fed up with the ways of the world before he, before she, acquires an appetite for the world of grace. [Eugene Peterson]

TUESDAY

What would help you be more aware of God’s presence today?

Morning and Midday
Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.  Remember His wonderful deeds which He has done, His marvels and the judgments from His mouth. [1 Chronicles 16:11-12]

Evening
The healthy Christian is not necessarily the extrovert, ebullient Christian, but the Christian who has a sense of God’s presence stamped deep on his soul, who trembles at God’s word, who lets it dwell in him richly by constant meditation upon it, and who tests and reforms his life daily in response to it.  [J.I. Packer]

WEDNESDAY

What reminds you of all the reasons you have to be grateful?

Morning and Midday
How wonderful are the good things you keep for those who honor you! Everyone knows how good you are, how securely you protect those who trust you. [Psalm 31:19, Good News Translation]

Evening
When we stray from His presence, He longs for you to come back. He weeps that you are missing out on His love, protection and provision. He throws His arms open, runs toward you, gathers you up, and welcomes you home. [Charles Stanley]

THURSDAY

What is the next step of commitment and action for you to join what God is doing in the world?

Morning and Midday
And remember, it is a message to obey, not just to listen to. If you don’t obey, you are only fooling yourself. [James 1:22, New Living Translation]

Evening
The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, then walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable. [Brennan Manning]

FRIDAY

What nagging and persistent habits or patterns do you need to confess?

Morning and Midday
All of you, slave and free both, were once held hostage in a sinful society. Then a huge sum was paid out for your ransom. So please don’t, out of old habit, slip back into being or doing what everyone else tells you. Friends, stay where you were called to be. God is there. Hold the high ground with him at your side. [1 Corinthians 7:23, MSG]

Evening
If you cannot find time to pray, ask for forgiveness. Ask to be cleansed of the sin of having no time to pray … It could be that Satan is pushing you into too much work so that you cannot take time to pray.  [Corrie Ten Boom]

SATURDAY

What areas of need are difficult for you to admit?

Morning and Midday
Lord, you will do everything you have planned for me. Lord, your faithful love continues forever. You have done so much for us. Don’t stop now. [Psalm 138:8, New International Reader’s Version]

Evening
You have to keep unmasking the world about you for what it is: manipulative, controlling, power-hungry, and, in the long run, destructive. The world tells you many lies about who you are, and you simply have to be realistic enough to remind yourself of this. Every time you feel hurt, offended, or rejected, you have to dare to say to yourself: ‘These feelings, strong as they may be, are not telling me the truth about myself. The truth, even though I cannot feel it right now, is that I am the chosen child of God, precious in God’s eyes, called the Beloved from all eternity, and held safe in an everlasting belief.’ [Henri Nouwen]
